What is Ticino Outdoor?

Ticino Outdoor is a small, ISO 21101 certified outdoor adventure / canyoning company based in Osogna, Canton Ticino, Switzerland. We organise guided canyoning, via ferrata, and rock climbing tours for individuals, families, school groups, scout groups, turnvereins and corporate teams. Our philosophy is come as a guest, leave as a friend.

Where is Ticino Outdoor located and how can I contact you?

We operate tours across Ticino — primarily in Valle Riviera, Valle Maggia, and Valle Verzasca. Season runs April 1st to November 1st.

Is Ticino Outdoor certified?

Yes. We are certified to ISO 21101 — the international safety management standard for adventure tourism — by Edelcert SA. All guides hold Swiss and international guide licences.

What activities does Ticino Outdoor offer?

We offer canyoning tours (4 difficulty levels, 12+ routes), via ferrata, rock climbing, and family adventure packages. We also run canyoning and rock climbing courses, equipment rentals, private VIP tours, school group programmes, and company team-building events.

What canyoning tours are available and what are the difficulty levels?

Level 1 Family (age 6+, no experience): Vira, Boggera Family, Corippo. Level 2 Beginner: Boggera, Valle Maggia, Malvaglia, Iragna. Level 3 Sporty: Pontirone, Iragna Plus, Nala. Level 4 Extreme (experience required): Boggera Helicanyoning, Lodrino Inferiore, Lodrino Integrale. We also offer individuals canyoning tours off-menu - any canyons in the Ticino, Domodossola or Chiavenna area.

How much does canyoning cost?

Canyoning tours start from CHF 99 per person for the entry level Vira canyoning tour with family discount or 155 for and adult ticket in the classic Boggera tour. Prices vary by tour level and group size. There are 10% family discounts for all level 1-2 canyons starting from 4 participants, student discount for under 18 youngsters and two level of discounts for bigger groups - 6% from 7-12 pax, 12% from 13+ participants. Package deals offer savings when combining multiple tours on the same day.

Is advance booking required and what is the cancellation policy?

Yes, prior booking is mandatory. We recommend booking at least a few days in advance. We understand that plans can change! If you need to cancel, just let us know as early as possible — cancellations made more than 15 days in advance only incur a small payment processing fee per person, and we can always issue a voucher for the full amount instead. The closer to the tour date, the higher the cancellation fee, so we always recommend taking out cancellation insurance for extra peace of mind. We have no minimum group size.

What equipment is included in a canyoning tour?

Included: certified guide, freshly washed 5mm wetsuit with hood, Adidas canyoning shoes, Petzl canyoning harness, and certified mountaineering helmet. Bring your own swimsuit and towel.For cold water days we also provide gloves and extra layers of neoprene

Do tours run in rainy or bad weather?

Rain alone does not necessarily cancel a tour, unless it's a thunderstorm. Safety depends on canyon water levels, not surface weather. We monitor the weather closely and we notify you 1-2 days in advance if conditions require a cancellation and always offer an alternative canyon, date, or voucher.

Ticino's geography creates exceptionally beautiful canyons with emerald-green pools, dramatic waterfalls, and crystal-clear Alpine water. Valle Maggia and Valle Verzasca are among the most photogenic and technically varied canyoning valleys in Europe.

Akos - CEO, Lead guide

I'm the founder of the company and the responsible for the operation and communication. After many years of experience with diffent outdoor industries I choose to set up a company with the main focus on canyoning - my personal favourite. In the last 20 years I worked as a dive instructor, climbing instructor, outdoor trainer and canyoning guide and my passion is to motivate people to pass their limits and experience the beauties and fun nature provides us.

Jaap - senior guide

Well a short introduction about me, my name is Jaap, a canyoning guide but born in the wrong country for it, the Netherlands. So that’s why I’m working in (possible the best place for canyoning) Ticino! I’ve guided multiple seasons in France, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Switzerland and New Zealand! From going canyoning for myself, guiding, giving canyoning courses and first decents, all the different parts of canyoning that are awesome, I’m doing it! Hopefully we can give u an epic experience in Ticino, so let’s make one!
