What is Ticino Outdoor?

Ticino Outdoor is a small, ISO 21101 certified outdoor adventure / canyoning company based in Osogna, Canton Ticino, Switzerland. We organise guided canyoning, via ferrata, and rock climbing tours for individuals, families, school groups, scout groups, turnvereins and corporate teams. Our philosophy is come as a guest, leave as a friend.

Where is Ticino Outdoor located and how can I contact you?

Our office is at in di Bügei 13, 6950 Tesserete, Switzerland. Our canyoning base is located at la Monda Nova, Osogna. Phone and WhatsApp: +41 76 280 12 22. Email: info@ticinooutdoor.com. We operate tours across Ticino — primarily in Valle Riviera, Valle Maggia, and Valle Verzasca. Season runs April 1st to November 1st.

Is Ticino Outdoor certified?

Yes. We are certified to ISO 21101 — the international safety management standard for adventure tourism — by Edelcert SA. All guides hold Swiss and international guide licences.

What activities does Ticino Outdoor offer?

We offer canyoning tours (4 difficulty levels, 12+ routes), via ferrata, rock climbing, and family adventure packages. We also run canyoning and rock climbing courses, equipment rentals, private VIP tours, school group programmes, and company team-building events.

What canyoning tours are available and what are the difficulty levels?

Level 1 Family (age 6+, no experience): Vira, Boggera Family, Corippo. Level 2 Beginner: Boggera, Valle Maggia, Malvaglia, Iragna. Level 3 Sporty: Pontirone, Iragna Plus, Nala. Level 4 Extreme (experience required): Boggera Helicanyoning, Lodrino Inferiore, Lodrino Integrale. We also offer individuals canyoning tours off-menu - any canyons in the Ticino, Domodossola or Chiavenna area.

How much does canyoning cost?

Canyoning tours start from CHF 99 per person for the entry level Vira canyoning tour with family discount or 155 for and adult ticket in the classic Boggera tour. Prices vary by tour level and group size. There are 10% family discounts for all level 1-2 canyons starting from 4 participants, student discount for under 18 youngsters and two level of discounts for bigger groups - 6% from 7-12 pax, 12% from 13+ participants. Package deals offer savings when combining multiple tours on the same day.

Is advance booking required and what is the cancellation policy?

Yes, prior booking is mandatory. We recommend booking at least a few days in advance. We understand that plans can change! If you need to cancel, just let us know as early as possible — cancellations made more than 15 days in advance only incur a small payment processing fee per person, and we can always issue a voucher for the full amount instead. The closer to the tour date, the higher the cancellation fee, so we always recommend taking out cancellation insurance for extra peace of mind. We have no minimum group size.

What equipment is included in a canyoning tour?

Included: certified guide, freshly washed 5mm wetsuit with hood, Adidas canyoning shoes, Petzl canyoning harness, and certified mountaineering helmet. Bring your own swimsuit and towel.For cold water days we also provide gloves and extra layers of neoprene

Do tours run in rainy or bad weather?

Rain alone does not necessarily cancel a tour, unless it's a thunderstorm. Safety depends on canyon water levels, not surface weather. We monitor the weather closely and we notify you 1-2 days in advance if conditions require a cancellation and always offer an alternative canyon, date, or voucher.

We wanted to experience steep sided canyon and came to Ticino! Happy to have found Akos! Communication with him had been easy and smooth despite the time zone difference.

I was worried we would be cold at first. But with 5mm wet suit and we were always on the move and we didn’t get the chance to feel cold!

We started nice and chill with Iragna, the group was really fun and friendly. The approach was also short. The last slide was a true surprise. Akos wouldn’t let us look at the slide first and we were told to cover our faces. I probably shouldn’t spoil the surprise here but it was hilarious and safe! You can just trust him! 🤣

Next was Lodrino(long). Really fantastic canyon. We started strong with a jump into the gorge and then a big rappel. The highest jump was 13m into a pool which then twist and turn into a cave like U shape tunnel, it was beautiful. The penultimate rappel just before the exit into the village was right next to a land bridge. It was such a beautiful finish to our trip. Anyone who’s had some experience must give this canyon a try!

Akos is flexible, chill and professional, he was also kind enough to adjust the tour to our ability knowing we have had experience as canyoneers, and also when I hesitated to do a running jump, he set up a rappel instead for me. No pressure at all!! I highly recommend his tour!

Great experience with our guide Jaap from Netherlands and the rest of the group from France and one from Italy(Bérgamo). The tour which was called lodrino integrale was very interesting and a bit challenging. Jaap made sure to explain everything and assist where necessary. This tour included a lot of interesting abseils some jumps and slides. I really recommend this tour if you are looking for fun and a bit of a challenge. Our guide Jaap took some cool photos and videos. Thanks to him and the other participants I also learned a lot about canyoning.

Dopo tanti anni, finalmente sono riuscit a rifare questa esperienza in Ticino. Il tour è stato fantastico ed Enrico è stato capace di mettere a proprio agio i partecipanti con la sua simpatia e trasmettendo sicurezza. Ancora non ci credo di essere saltata da quelle altezze!!! Had an awesome experience in lower Lodrino canyon!! Did some really cool jumps, slides and abseils all while feeling super safe and supported by our guide. They have so much knowledge and know the canyons like the back of their hands so you can just sit back and enjoy. The canyon was also super pretty with Cristal clear waters!! This was an absolutely amazing experience - the highlight of our Switzerland trip! The whole family loved it! With a 10 and 12 year olds we thought it would be too big of a challenge for the kids (and the scared parents) but Jaap, our guide, knew the in and out of the canyon and took us down in a safe and very enjoyable way.

Upon reading more about the activity afterwards we came to know that this canyon ranks the second best in the world - I can understand that. Definitely worth the trip 👌

Great experience! Exciting and we always felt super safe. 45 min walking up and 4h going down with all types of jumps, abseiling up to 40m, fantastic toboggans. If you are planning a trip to Switzerland (or simply looking for an exciting, memorable, and slightly challenging experience), I can wholeheartedly recommend canyoning. And I say this as someone who definitely has a few fears. 😊 Before my first time, I hesitated a lot. It looked much more challenging than it actually felt once I was there. The experience pushed me outside my comfort zone, but in the best possible way. It can genuinely make you reconsider some of your fears and realise that you are capable of more than you may think. The team is highly professional, supportive, and knows exactly how to make you feel safe and comfortable throughout the whole experience. At the same time, you get adventure, adrenaline, beautiful nature, and memories that will stay with you for life. I have now done it three times, and considering how unsure I was before the first one, I think that says everything. 😄 Highly recommended!

 Verified Fantastic morning in the river, action and fun with the family
Great experience! Exciting and we always felt super safe. 45 min walking up and 4h going down with all types of jumps, abseiling up to 40m, fantastic toboggans. The river water and the landscape are clean and beautiful, worth the visit. Akos is a great guide with a lot of experience. We could not ask more and we recommend the tour to everybody.

What a fun experience! The guides were funny, knowledgeable and always had everything under control. It was great to see them accommodate everyone from more adventurous to more reserved and made sure everyone was comfortable. We are already thinking about coming back!

Zusammen mir meiner Tochter 14J und meinem Sohn 19J haben wir diese Tour absolviert. Die Tour war sehr eindrücklich und hat gehalten was sie versprach. Von Abseilen, Sprüngen und Rutschen war alles dabei. Unser Guide war sehr gut drauf und wir hatten viel Spass.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an amazing experience with Ticino Outdoor Canyoning! Our guide Akos was professional, friendly and made everyone feel safe throughout the tour. The scenery was absolutely stunning, and the tour was perfectly suited for our family. The organisation was excellent from start to finish, and we even received a fantastic set of photos afterwards.  Verified Lot of family fun at Vira canyoning
We do the Vira canyoning with our 7-year-old son. It was his first time canyoning. He loved it. Akos was exceptional—accommodating, patient, and attentive. Vira is perfect for beginners or for families with young children. You can repeat the jumps several times. It’s really fun. Great equipment. Excellent communication. If you are planning a trip to Switzerland (or simply looking for an exciting, memorable, and slightly challenging experience), I can wholeheartedly recommend canyoning. And I say this as someone who definitely has a few fears. 😊 Before my first time, I hesitated a lot. It looked much more challenging than it actually felt once I was there. The experience pushed me outside my comfort zone, but in the best possible way. It can genuinely make you reconsider some of your fears and realise that you are capable of more than you may think. The team is highly professional, supportive, and knows exactly how to make you feel safe and comfortable throughout the whole experience. At the same time, you get adventure, adrenaline, beautiful nature, and memories that will stay with you for life. I have now done it three times, and considering how unsure I was before the first one, I think that says everything. 😄 Highly recommended!
